Adventist Learning Community PGTS CPE

The Adventist Learning Community, in partnership with the GC/NAD PGTS Department, has created online courses to earn PGTS CPE.

Courses

Each course is made up of multiple asynchronous lessons, usually between 4 – 6 lessons, that may be completed whenever you please. Each lesson consists of reading material, a video presentation, PowerPoint slides, and a 10-question quiz. Many lessons also have a learning activity designed to help you apply the lesson to your PGTS program.

Cost 

Each CPE credit is $10, e.g. a 4 CPE Credit course costs $40, a 5 CPE Credit course costs $50, etc.

To enroll in PGTS CPE courses you must have an ALC account, if you do not already have one click the link below to be taken to the ALC website.

Donor Stewardship 

A course that covers the basic concepts of donor stewardship, how to steward our donors after the gift is completed, how to implement donor stewardship in various types of organizations, and how to steward the next generation.

Accreditation Process  This course will help directors navigate their way through the entire accreditation process, from preparing for the trust review, responding to the C&A Committee, understanding the committee’s decisions, and meeting 4
Marketing Planned Giving This course discusses what motivates donors, their thought process in deciding which organizations they will support, and discusses ways you can have a meaningful conversation with your constituents about supporting your organization. 4
Real Estate The student will be introduced to the definitions of real and personal property, how it is owned and how it is transferred. The student will also get a basic understanding of Federal Environmental Protection Laws, Fiduciary Responsibility as to Environmental Issues, and ways to identify environmental concerns. 4
Trust Administration This course will explain the duties of a trustee, the administrative process of serving as a trustee, and how to terminate the trust. You will also learn why being a fiduciary, trustee, or personal representative of an estate is a very serious responsibility. 4
Advanced Planned Gifts

This lesson will introduce the concept of blended gifts, the intersection between major gifts and planned Giving. The lesson will also discuss some valuable tools in blended gifts, the Charitable Gift Annuity and the Charitable Remainder Trust.

Trust Accounting This course discusses accounting for assets in a trust, charitable gift substantiation rules for donors and charities, and filing income tax returns for decedents personally (IRS Form 1040) and for their trusts (IRS Form 1041). 5
Canadian Planned Giving This course covers the following topics from a Canadian perspective; wills, trusts, the probate process, retirement benefits, income tax, estate tax, tax benefits of charitable giving, and charitable gift annuities. 6

Completion

To complete the course, and receive your CPE certificate, you must achieve a 100% score on the quiz for each lesson and a 75% score on all learning activities.
