Mission Impact Fund 2024 Funding Cycle

Legacy Insights- From the Director's Desk February 21, 2023

2024 Funds Available

The Mission Impact Fund (MIF) distributed $1.6 million worldwide for projects occurring in 2023 that reach out to local communities and fulfill the strategic plan of “I Will Go!” Here is a list of all the MIF – 2023 Approved Projects and a video MIF Report highlighting a few of the projects happening this year. There is more than $2.5 million available through the MIF for distribution in 2024, and the funding cycle has already started. This article relays all the information you need to help those in your territory who are interested in applying for funding to reach the unreached for Christ in their community.

Each Division is responsible for promoting the MIF within the context of their territory and in harmony with their strategic plan. When asked what projects the North American Division (NAD) will submit to the General Conference (GC) for consideration, NAD Treasurer Randy Robinson said, “I strongly emphasize that the projects must fit within the vision of the NAD’s strategic plan ‘Together in Mission, I Will Go!’ They must fit squarely within that.” He said that funding will be for local churches implementing projects within their community. Projects supporting the normal operation of an organization, funding a regular program, or enhancing staffing will not be approved. “The projects must be focused on outreach and benefit the local community,” Robinson said.

Initial Project Proposals

The NAD has already notified the Unions that they will accept two initial project proposals from each Union. This is considered an initial project proposal because it will not be a complete application. Instead, it will be a brief (no more than one page) description of the project, including;

  • the name of the project,
  • who the primary contact person is,
  • the funds requested, and an explanation of the relevant details.

Pictures and/or videos can be attached to the initial project proposal, but keep in mind the proposal should be kept brief. Projects selected by the Division to proceed to the next round of consideration will then be subject to complete a more thorough application.

Two Proposals Per Union

Each Union must submit its two project proposals to the NAD no later than March 1 and those should be emailed to Elder Robinson at [email protected]. It will be up to each Union to decide how they will solicit project proposals from their territory. If you have questions regarding how local churches can submit project proposals in your Union, please contact your Union PGTS Director.

After the Union submission deadline of March 1, the Division will review all initial proposals before approving which projects will be allowed to submit a complete application to the GC. The NAD will pay particular attention to ensuring projects are aligned with their strategic plan “Together in Mission, I Will Go!” which gives special emphasis to media, multiplying, and mentorship.

Complete Application

The primary contact person for projects approved to submit a complete application will receive a web link in which they will have to give more detailed information about the project, such as;

  • Specific Community Needs
  • Project Objectives
  • Criteria for Project Success
  • Project Budget

Links to the complete application will be emailed to the project’s primary contact person by March 10, and the application should be completed by April 3. The GC/NAD PGTS Department will work directly with the project leaders to ensure the complete application is filled out correctly. The GC will review all MIF applications submitted from each of the World Divisions and announce the approved projects at Annual Council in October.

Funding For 2023 Projects

Funds have already been sent to the Division for the 2023 projects, and the Division has forwarded those funds directly to the local conferences for the benefit of the project at the local churches. A letter was mailed to the project’s primary contact notifying them of the available funds. With the Lord’s blessing, we hope to hear many exciting stories of how the MIF impacted people’s lives, how community needs were met, and how the strategic plan of “Together in Mission, I Will Go!” was fulfilled.
